Our services

We support expectant families as medical and psychosocial specialists from the point of wanting to have a child, through pregnancy, home birth and postpartum, to the end of the first year of life. The individual, holistic and continuous accompaniment through these special times before, during and after birth is very important to us.

  • We are happy to support you if you are already planning to have a child. Our focus here is on individual counseling for queer and trans* people who want to become pregnant. The content of such a consultation can be cycle observation, relevant anatomy, possibilities and requirements for a DIY insemination and of course all your questions.

  • Sensitive and professional pregnancy support is very important to us. We consider pregnancy to be a healthy, exciting phase of life in which we as midwives are at your side. We offer you advice with sufficient time, support and give tips and recommendations in case of pregnancy complaints as well as pre-natal examinations according to the "Maternity Guidelines" including laboratory tests. These can also take place in conjunction with your gynecological care. Individual wishes and concerns can be discussed with us.

If we are planning a home birth together, it is beneficial that we see each other regularly during the pregnancy and get to know each other well. In the course of the pregnancy we will decide together according to medical criteria and your individual wishes where you want to / can give birth to your child.

Also in case of pregnancy conflicts or if the pregnancy ends unexpectedly, we will accompany and advise you.

All services during pregnancy are paid for by the statutory health insurance.

Pregnancy check-ups usually take place in the Amandastraße midwifery practice.

  • Due to our conviction and passion for low-intervention, self-determined and safe birth care, we offer accompaniment for home births. If you are interested or if you still have questions, please contact us for a non-committing conversation and we can discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different birthplaces together. We are of the opinion, both professionally and politically, that every person should be free to choose where and with whom they want to give birth to their child.

The decision to give birth at home also depends on health conditions, which we will discuss with you.

Factors such as self-determination, continuous 1:1 care by trusted midwives, quiet, familiar and undisturbed surroundings can be implemented particularly well in your own home, which is why we are so passionate about home births. It will always be two of us that attend the birth. Supplemented with our constantly updated expertise, we create a safe, trusting and calm environment for your birth.

Midwifery services during home births are covered by statutory health insurance. Only the lump sum for on-call duty has to be paid by you. Two of us will be on call for you for 5 weeks (between 37 + 0 - 42 + 0 weeks of pregnancy). You can choose an amount between 600 and 1200 € according to your own estimation. Most health insurances will contribute at least 250 € towards the fee. However, a home birth should not be excluded because of money, which is why you can come to us in case of financial difficulties and we will try to find a solution!

  • After the birth, the 6-8 week postpartum period begins. This time is a very special, intensive, physical and emotional adjustment phase for all involved in the new family.

The family gets to know each other and everyone arrives in their new roles. The birthing person's body recovers from pregnancy and birth, and various healing processes happen. The baby continues to develop its bodily functions outside the uterus, learns to drink, among other things, and enters into relationships in a variety of ways.

During this exciting time we are at your side with expertise, calmness, empathy, and open ears. Families who would like to give birth to their child in a birth center or clinic can also contact us for support during the postpartum period.

We would especially like to mention that we see the accompaniment of parents who have lost their babies as an important part of our work. In such sad, touching and unforeseen times we want to be empathic and attentive care providers.

Postpartum services are paid for by the health insurance.

  • In this course we want to create a safe space for queer and trans* parents, where no-one has to explain themselves and we have time and space for exchange and networking.

The classic contents of birth preparation courses such as massages, body exercises and input on the topic of birth and postpartum will also be included. There will be as much space as possible for your questions, concerns and worries. We will spend the weekend together, which is why we want to create an individual, relaxed atmosphere with as little hierarchy as possible. You can come alone or bring the people who are involved in becoming parents with you.
